Hello!
I’m a graduate student at KU Leuven, and I’ve been living in Belgium since 2020. After spending over two decades in Kolkata, India, I’m still on the fence about my preference for Belgian weather.
Currently, I’m pursuing a graduate degree in AI with a focus on numerical linear algebra, optimization, and robotics. I’m passionate about anything related to data, AI, or robotics and am actively seeking opportunities in these fields, both in industry and academia.
I’m writing my thesis at the NUMA Research Unit at KU Leuven, exploring how Tensor Ring Decompositions can be used with multi-layer RNNs to potentially compress large sequential models. This project has deepened my interest in Numerical Linear Algebra, especially how Randomized NLA (highlighted in this monograph) is accelerating computations.
Applied AI also fascinates me. From building a drone during my undergraduate studies to simulating an Autonomous Surface Vehicle, I am thoroughly enjoying the Neurosymbolic AI wave.
During my previous master’s program, I delved into Game Theory and Mechanism Design and have been captivated by these topics ever since. I’m eager to apply concepts from Obviously Strategy-Proof Mechanisms to Reinforcement Learning agents someday. What began as a business degree culminated in a thesis on Environmental Economics, where I analyzed CO2 emission drivers in India to assess its ability to meet the targets set by the Paris Agreement and subsequent COPs.
My undergraduate studies were in Physics, and I worked on projects in Quantum Computing and Quantum Machine Learning. I hope to eventually integrate my knowledge in AI and HPC with experiment design and simulations in High Energy Physics.
Beyond my academic and professional interests, I’m a movie, TV show, and photography enthusiast. Occasionally, I make films, and sometimes I even get paid to photograph events. I’m a huge fan of comic book movies, though the latest Marvel Studios releases have been a bit of a letdown for me.
A fun fact: I’ve read almost every issue of The Flash up until 2016.
My teachers always noted how talkative I was in school. I still am.
Feel free to reach out! I’m fluent in English, Bengali, and Hindi, can hold basic conversations in German, and order a beer in Dutch. My French skills are un peu at best.
